As our total number of episodes swells up to close to 2000, it does seem like we need a few more subcollections
like are over in the Feature Films Section:

Suggestions

1) Classic Sitcoms
2) Police and Detective Shows
3) Horror and Science Fiction
4) Variety and Music

Good idea but would "Colgate Comedy Hour" go in Comedy or Variety. It and a lot of other shows could go in both.

**Also don't forget about "WESTERNS".**

Well, my idea has Sitcoms in One Category, and Variety in another. Colgate Comedy wouldn't be a sitcom. It'd be a Variety. Though some things wouldn't fit in any category.

Yes, I think that's exactly right. No classification scheme is perfect, but at IA there's lots of ways to slice and dice, even if things are classified a certain way. I think a start would be the sitcoms as a genre category. There's enough there for a decent showing from the outset, the boundaries there are pretty clear, and I would not have to run into Ozzie and Harriet anymore. Wouldn't it be nice?

I'm into crime, as well, but trying it out on sitcoms first may be best, at least in my own collection of about 1,000 tv shows it was surprising to me how few categories were needed to spread things out for clarity and how small some categories actually were, even with more than a thousand titles.

Great suggestions for collections! I'm not fond of classic comedy, and this would be great to not have to sift through The Beverly Hillbillies to find a little nugget of crime drama!
